Registration Form created by EMS Parents Association
Young children ask BIG questions. How can we prepare ourselves and support them when they ask big questions about race, racism, and differences? How do we as parents sow seeds that bring forth global leaders? What can we do as adults to give our children the tools and encouragement to dialogue when they come to us seeking answers?
Guest Speaker: TONIA M. SPENCE, LCSW, MSEd Tonia M. Spence believes in the power of healthy relationships in shaping young children’s lives. For 20+ years, she has provided mental health services to countless children and families, and Diversity, Equity, and Belonging (DEIB) and leadership development for professionals. As a clinician, Tonia’s commitment to education led her to a Fellowship program at Yale’s Child Development Center Outpatient Clinic in New Haven, where she began to recognize how racial tension and stress added an additional layer to the trauma of the children and families she was serving. She understood that only with the additional lens of race, class, and privilege could she truly serve as a leader, educator, and clinician.
